Omega-3

There’s currently no firm recommendation for omega-3 consumption. European guidelines advise 250mg EPA+DHA/day. On average in the UK we get a lot less than this so aim for a healthy balanced diet.

Researchers are looking into developing plant-based sources of omega-3, primarily from micro-algae. This will give vegetarians more options of omega-3 sources without having to use food supplements!
